| Name: | Deidara |
|---|---|
| Birthdate: | 1989-05-05 |
Character Name: Deidara
Canon: Naruto
Point taken from canon:
Age: 19
Gender: male
Village: Iwagakure
Home: Located in Iwagakure, Deidara's house is hewn into the eastern side of the mountain Iwagakure is positioned on. It is a medium-sized square dwelling with a large flat roof, and is located closer to the top of the mountain. The houst boasts many large windows that can be opened to allow the sun in, and is relatively airy inside with high ceilings.
It is composed of two rooms: one very large, spacious area that serves as a living area as well as a work area, with benches and tables that serve just that purpose, and one smaller room with a bed and some furnishings. Inside the bedroom are three shrines: one large shrine is devoted to the Kishijoten, the goddess of luck and beauty, and two smaller shrines to Chijin, the god of earth, and Kajin, the god of fire, flank it. This shrine is carved out of rock and into very wall directly opposite the bed. It cannot be destroyed.
To the back of the house, Deidara can find a bathroom and his kitchen.
Deidara's house is conveniently located -- it happens to overlook Iwagakure's fertile valley, which is filled with crops.
Appearance: Deidara has long blond hair, which, while usually kept up in a ponytail above his head, flops across the left side of his face, concealing the scope which covers his left eye. His eyes are blue. He has a rather feminine appearance, especially with his hair down. Deidara wears the headband of Iwagakure, which may help to keep his hair up in its usual style. There is a slash through the symbol on the headband, however, to show that he is no longer affiliated with the village.
He has a typical Akatsuki cloak: a long black cloak with red clouds with white borders, and also has the typical Akatsuki accessories. He wears the standard purple nailpolish, and his ring, Sei (blue-green), is on his right index finger. On each hand there is a mouth with teeth and a tongue, which he uses to create his exploding sculptures. Underneath the cloak he wears a fishnet shirt with a bit of solid fabric covering his upper chest to conceal the mouth on his chest, used to self-detonate as a last resort. His belt holds his clay pouch, clay being his weapon of choice. He wears light blue pants, white leg guards, and sandals, just like the other Akatsuki. His toenails are painted purple, too.
Background: Deidara was born in Iwagakure. He proved to be a genius with explosives. Every target found its mark, every explosive concoction perfectly mixed, every bit of chakra where it should be. His teacher hailed him as such, and Deidara basked in the attention his art earned him. Still, as much as he was admired he was feared. And it wasn't long before it became obvious to those who knew him well that Deidara was not of the right mind. He didn't care about others, trampling cheerfully on their feelings and lives; all that mattered was his art.
Eventually, he left Iwagakure. From then on he was classed as an S-rank nuke-nin. Deidara was thrilled by the recognition. For a time he worked as a freelance terrorist, working for whoever payed him, not caring one whit if he aided one side one week and the other the next. He wanted to practice his art, and he wanted to be recognized for it.
It was this that attracted the attention of Akatsuki. Pein, Akatsuki's leader, sent Itachi out to forcibly recruit Deidara, if necessary. It did turn out to be necessary, and Itachi fought Deidara with the sharingan. After a thorough defeat, a hatred for the sharingan, the Uchiha family, and most of all Itachi, was sparked in Deidara. He began training his left eye to resist genjutsu, especially the sharingan.
Deidara was partnered with Sasori, another artist who thought that art was eternal, and used puppets. The two clashed immediately, as their views on art were exact opposites. While they spend a lot of time fighting, the two actually do work together well, and really do get along as best two stubborn ninjas convinced they are right can. Deidara does hold some admiration for Sasori's talents, though he doesn't think they're art, and wants Sasori to notice and praise his own artwork, although this is likely to never happen.
Deidara was responsible for defeating Gaara and retreiving his jinchuuriki, which he did despite Gaara having a distinct advantage (the fight was in a desert, and Gaara controls sand). After Sasori was killed, he was paired with Tobi, whom he treated almost as an annoying little brother, often almost abusing him but generally caring for him underneath his exterior; Deidara would help Tobi capture his jinchuuriki, and would actually show concern for his partner in battle, trying to keep Tobi out of harm's way.
Deidara was just beginning his fight with Sasuke when he ended up...Not quite home.
Personality: Deidara is an artist. He lives for his art, and plans to die for it (therefore it is only waiting for the perfect moment to die that keeps him alive, really). Believing that art is fleeting, and best expressed in explosion, he has centered himself around this idea. He thrills at the sound, heat, and light of explosions, as well as the death and destruction they cause. It is all a part of the art for him; as far as he's concerned, he's making anyone he kills into something better than they will ever be on their own.
Deidara can come across as more or less normal at first: he can even be a bit of a charmer if caught in the right mood. He's almost always grinning, is extremely energetic and active, and always comes up with things to do. Really, at first one might think he was fun to be around, if somewhat exhausting in large doses. However, this is just the surface of a far more twisted person. Deidara is crazy, to put it simply. More specifically, he has histrionic personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Deidara has an obsessive need for attention. If he is not the center of attention, he is attempting to get there. The more people who are watching him, the happier he is. And if this attention is good or bad, well, he doesn't much care. As long as people are looking and reacting to him, he is content. This is reflected in the art he makes: it is flashy, destructive, and more or less demands attention from those who witness it. Those who ignore his art are those who get most under his skin: he will go to insane extremes to get his art noticed. He believes he is the best, the most deserving, and the center of the universe. Those who do not pay him the respect he believes he deserves are scorned. He loves himself.
In this vein, he is unable to form real relationships with others (except, perhaps, himself). As everyone else is, in his mind, beneath him, they are just potential canvases or people to be used, for the most part. He sees nothing wrong with having sexual relations with more than one person, for example, although he becomes very jealous if his partners choose to do the same. When he grows bored with people, he discards them. Those who do manage to earn his respect are often still treated with some level of scorn, as he does not readily show admiration. He does, however, display a greater degree of loyalty to them.
Deidara is immature and lacks impulse control, for the most part. He does what he wants when he wants to, and hates being told what to do. He especially hates it when people try to control his art, as in his mind, its very nature is to be uncontrollable. He enjoys being contrary, even when going along with something would be better for him, just to get a rise out of people.
When Deidara gets angry it quickly escalates to fury, and makes him prone to rash, unwise decisions. He hates when people don't pay attention to his art even more than if they hate it--at least when they hate it they're noticing it. There's nothing worse to him than someone completely overlooking it as if it were not worthy of attention. Under such circumstances, he will go to extremes to force them to notice, even if it hurts or kills him. Any sort of sadness Deidara may experience is generally turned into frustration and anger, which is how he best deals with it.
Deidara is also extremely claustrophobic; small spaces suffocate him, and being trapped for too long even in a relatively large space start to unhinge him even more than he already is. It causes nervous actions--pacing like a trapped animal, for example--complaining, drastic, blind attempts at escape, and if left for too long, an almost catatonic state, broken only by occasional short fits of movement.
Deidara has special issues with the Uchiha family, as it was Uchiha Itachi who forced him into Akatsuki. He hates the sharingan and hates everyone who has it. When fighting a sharingan user, he will become even more reckless than usual.
Abilities/Strengths: Deidara is a ninja. Specifically, he's an S-class nuke-nin criminal--among the best of the worst, as it were. He's also sort of insane--and this does act as a strength. He has no issue with blood and violence: he enjoys it, in fact. He also has a very high pain tolerance, as shown in canon when he had an arm torn off and barely flinched. Deidara is training his left eye to resist genjutsu (illusions). With this eye he should be able to see through some illusions. He also knows all standard ninja jutsu: water walking, wall walking, clay bunshin (clones), and the like. He has excellent chakra control.
Deidara's main weapon is art: he uses explosive clay in battle. The mouths in his hand can quickly create sculptures (usually insects and birds, though he may use other animals as well), which he will then animate and detonate. Because the sculptures can move on their own much like the animals they're based on, and home in on the enemy besides that, he can use them for long distance attacks--he's a long range fighter. He has five levels of chakra that he could use in battle:
C1 - The basic level of chakra he uses. His production rate of sculptures increases in both quantity and speed. He still uses the smaller sculptures at this level--spiders and birds, mostly.
C2 - The second level of chakra. His speed increases quite a bit, and the C2 dragon, his favorite attack, becomes available. He creates a massive dragon out of clay that spits out smaller versions of itself using the clay in its tail. He can use this in combination with special landmine spheres the dragon can also create to box his opponent in--he can use bombs thrown from the air to herd the unlucky opponent onto the landmines.
C3 - The third level of chakra. Deidara can create his most powerful large-scale attack (not counting the last one, which is a bit special)--his specialty #18 jutsu. He creates a sculpture and places the C3 chakra into it. When he detonates this sculpture, it releases an explosive charge capable of levelling a village.
C4 - The fourth level of chakra, and the highest level Deidara can attain normally. At this level he has his most deadly attack, the Kibaku Nendo, developed to kill Itachi, but capable of use on anyone else. He will consume his clay using his real mouth and then vomit it up as a gigantic Deidara sculpture. It explodes into a cloud of microscopic clay bombs, which, when breathed in, travel through the body and detonate, causing the body to disintegrate on a cellular level.
C5 - His highest level of chakra, it has only one use: Deidara will put a massive amount of clay into the mouth on his chest, all of his chakra will gather there, and he will self-destruct. The explosion covers a ten-kilometer radius.
Deidara can also create a clay bird he uses to fly on in the same way he creates his other sculptures. It moves exactly like an actual bird, though Deidara controls it, and is very fast and acrobatic. Deidara usually fights atop one of those to maintain distance between himself and his foes.
Deidara's explosive clay, which he makes himself, is his main weapon, and his deadliest. He's always carrying some with him and makes more regularly. Aside from this, Deidara has standard shinobi weaponry: kunai and shuriken, of which he has about thirty of each on hand. If he uses one of these, he favors the kunai, but he does not often use these weapons, preferring his art. Deidara also carries a few explosive tags which can be tied to kunai and work similarly to explosive clay, except less powerfully. He doesn't use them often.
Weaknesses: Deidara's personality weaknesses are detailed in his personality section, as they're often one and the same for him. Deidara fights long range for reasons beside his art: his taijutsu (hand-to-hand combat) skills are his weakest point, and if he can be brought into close combat without a means to escape, he will be at a disadvantage. Deidara's biggest weak point lies in the explosive clay that is his primary weapon: the jutsu he uses to work with it are all earth-based, and lightning-based jutsu will completely shut down any attack aside from the self-destruction. Even if Deidara's C4 gets inside a body, hitting them with a bit of non-fatal lightning jutsu will diffuse the bombs.
